On October 9, 2025, as part of the preparation for a new joint project on sustainable development and ecological ethnography, a meeting took place between the administration of K. Karasaev Bishkek State University and Professor Zachary Rhein, a representative of the partner university Constructor Bremen (Germany). During the meeting, the participants discussed future areas of cooperation within the framework of the Green Deal Center initiative and the upcoming grant application. Special attention was given to engaging with communities that preserve traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) — such as eagle hunters, herders, traditional healers, and bearers of oral traditions. The discussion also covered opportunities for conducting field research and involving BSU students in ethnographic and environmental projects. It was noted that the project will contribute to the development of scientific partnerships, the expansion of the international cooperation network, and the strengthening of BSU’s role as a research center in the fields of ecology, culture, and sustainable development in Central Asia.
