SOLID Project - Social Work Social Work and NGO Support in Developing Collaboration for Drug Addiction Treatment - Summary in Russian

Project Description

SOLID stands for Social Work Social Work and NGO Support in Development Cooperation for Drug Dependence Treatment. The project aims to further develop social work as a field of research and profession in Central Asia and China. The SOLID project places particular emphasis on social work with marginalized populations such as drug users and people living with HIV. The SOLID project focuses on three main areas: (1) social work and drug addiction treatment with a focus on opioid, alcohol and nicotine addiction, as well as psychosocial support and counseling for people with substance use disorders; (2) social work and infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis C) with a focus on prevention and harm reduction programs; (3) social work with people in closed settings such as prisons and other closed institutions.
The SOLID project is in line with the UN's global Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

The partners of the SOLID project include the Nuremberg Federal Institute of Technology, the Shanghai Mental Health Center in Shanghai (China), the Eurasian National University in Astana (Kazakhstan), and the Bishkek State University in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). In Uzbekistan, cooperation is underway with the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
Project objectives

1) Consolidation and expansion of the network
The SOLID network is consolidated in each partner country, comprising universities and stakeholders from politics, science and NGOs, and extends to local, national and regional levels. In each partner country, intensive partnerships are established with NGOs (especially community-based organisations of particularly affected populations) and drug addiction services. Collaboration with other universities within the country and between participating countries is also encouraged.
The SOLID network facilitates the exchange of social work material, for example by exchanging experts from partner universities in the form of research and field visits. The network addresses cross-cutting topics such as tobacco control and tobacco-related harm reduction, as well as the involvement of social work in smoking prevention and promotion of smoking cessation or harm reduction measures (e.g. switching to e-cigarettes).
