Department of Quality, Practice and Career

The Department of Quality, Practice and Career (DQPC) is a structural subdivision of BSU named after K. Karasaev and carries out its administrative and managerial activities within the limits of the implemented goals, objectives and assigned powers.The purpose of the OKPK activities is:

  • coordination of the educational process and organization of the activities of structural divisions, departments and services of the university in the management and quality assurance of education, with the aim of satisfying consumers (employers, students, parents, society, etc.) and other interested parties;
  • implementation of the university's mission and policy in the field of quality;
  • development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of an effective internal university quality management system (QMS) in education;
  • preparation for an independent assessment of BSU and its educational programs for compliance with approved criteria and procedures (not lower than the minimum requirements imposed on accredited educational organizations of primary, secondary and higher vocational education in the Kyrgyz Republic);
  • facilitating career planning, development and employment of graduates and monitoring their subsequent professional trajectories;
  • coordination of work on interaction between BSU and its structural divisions with potential employers, as well as between graduates and BSU;
  • research and monitoring of graduates’ careers and public opinion of employers on the quality of training of students and graduates of BSU;
  • coordination of work on organizing relevant types of student internships.

The main tasks of the OKPK are:

  • implementation of the university's mission and policy in the field of quality;
  • development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of an effective internal university quality management system (QMS) in education;
  • informing about the results of independent accreditation, as well as work to eliminate comments and recommendations of accreditation agencies;
  • assistance in employment and career development of BSU students and graduates;
  • study and monitoring of graduates’ careers and public opinion of employers on the quality of training of students and graduates of BSU;
  • provision of consulting and educational services in the field of career education for students and graduates.

The department is responsible for the implementation a number of functions, aimed at developing and monitoring the implementation of BSU policy in the field of education quality; planning and organizing events to improve the quality of all types of BSU activities; improving the internal quality management system at BSU; organizing the work of the Quality Council, monitoring the implementation of its decisions; providing assistance, support and career guidance to students and graduates of the university, as well as potential employers.

The OKPK coordinates various types of BSU student practice, including industrial, educational and pre-graduation (pre-qualification). It also coordinates all related work, such as drawing up work programs for practices, defining practice bases, providing practices with the necessary documentation, organizing introductory, career guidance and final events for practice, monitoring and recording the quality of practice organization at the level of departments and faculties, monitoring the quality of practice by students and master's students.

The OKPK consults BSU students and graduates on career development and behavior in the labor market, employers on attracting young specialists and conducting career events for BSU students and graduates, and faculties and other structural divisions of BSU on interaction with employers, employment and career development of BSU students and graduates. In addition, sociological, marketing research and monitoring of various aspects of the educational process, the quality of education and teaching at BSU, the processes of employment of BSU graduates and students, and career development of BSU graduates and students are conducted.

The OKPK also develops and presents proposals and analytical documents on improving the interaction of BSU with potential employers, increasing the competitiveness of BSU students and graduates in the modern labor market, improving the educational process, procedures for organizing student practice, and the quality of teaching at the university. Analytical reports and presentations on the results of its activities are prepared, presenting them, if necessary, at meetings of the BSU Educational and Methodological Council and the BSU Academic Council.

Recently, a number of activities have been implemented, in particular, research has been conducted:

  • sociological research on the topic: “Results of the winter session and the quality of education”;
  • among 2nd-4th year students of all specialties, a sociological study on the topic: “Internship by BSU students”;
  • the contingent of employed graduates from 2010-2021 was studied and analyzed and a report was submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic in all areas;
  • in order to support the academic reputation of BSU named after K. Karasayev, as well as in pursuance of the order of the rector No. 25 dated 13.02.19, the OKPK organizes work on participation in the ranking of programs developed by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) in all areas of bachelor's and master's degrees. The results of the ranking are published in the newspaper "Kut Bilim" and on the IAAR website;
  • a sociological study on the topic: “Satisfaction with studying at BSU” was conducted through a handout and telephone survey among 2020-2023 graduates of all specialties;
  • As part of the implementation of the Agreement between the University and the Association of Young Entrepreneurs, a database of vacancies for graduates is being created.

Internships are organized in 24 types, with the assistance of structural divisions, internship bases were determined, contracts were concluded and extended with specialized organizations. The University has established closer cooperation with enterprises taking into account the further employment of our graduates, contracts were concluded and updated with more than 240 organizations, centers, departments.

In pursuance of the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic dated 20.09.16 No. 1908/1, monitoring of the feedback mechanism is carried out according to the methodology for tracking the employment of graduates. Within the framework of this methodology, a sociological study is conducted among graduates of all specialties on the topic: "Satisfaction with education at BSU". The obtained data are analyzed and, on their basis, analytical reports are prepared, and an electronic database of students of 2014-2024 is formed in order to track the employment of graduates, including master's students.
