On October 9, 2025, as part of preparations for a new joint project on sustainable development and environmental ethnography, the leadership of BSU named after K. Karasaev met with Professor Zachary Reina, a representative of the partner university, Constructor Bremen (Germany). During the meeting, areas of future collaboration within the Green Deal for Central Asian Universities initiative and the upcoming grant application were discussed.
Special attention was given to engaging with communities that preserve traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) — such as eagle hunters, herders, traditional healers, and bearers of oral traditions. The discussion also covered opportunities for conducting field research and involving BSU students in ethnographic and environmental projects.
It was noted that the project will contribute to the development of scientific partnerships, the expansion of the international cooperation network, and the strengthening of BSU’s role as a research center in the fields of ecology, culture, and sustainable development in Central Asia.
