Karasaev Outreach (GDC) is a transnational networkaimed at promoting the principles of sustainable development, advancing the priorities of the European Green Deal, and fostering regenerative futures across Eurasia.

The GDC unites physical and digital hubs at 10 universities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as a central EU Hub located at Constructor University in Germany.
As a platform for a just and green transition, each GDC Hub actively connects local stakeholders — such as green-oriented businesses, NGOs, government agencies, and universities — with each other and with international networks.
Established under the EU Erasmus+ grant “Green Deal for Central Asian Universities” (2025), the GDC and its hubs strengthen cooperation and shared commitments between Central Asian countries and the European Union by advancing joint approaches to sustainability, climate resilience, and Green Deal priorities.
Bridging academic knowledge with real-world practice, the GDC supports:
- • transformation of curricula and university policies in line with the European Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
- • practice-oriented research in the fields of climate, biodiversity, circular economy, and social resilience;
- • development of innovation ecosystems that unite students, researchers, policymakers, businesses, and civil society;
- • public engagement through open events, media outreach, and citizen science initiatives.
Each GDC Hub responds to its local context while remaining part of a shared Eurasian platform for green transition and ecological stewardship.
The GDC Hub at Bishkek State University (BSU) specializes in sustainable natural resource management and the green economy of the mountainous regions of Central Asia.
Its activities focus on developing practice-oriented solutions for environmentally balanced mountain development, enhancing environmental literacy and climate resilience among local communities, and strengthening cooperation between the university, business, government, and civil society.
Key areas of work include:
- • integrating principles of sustainable development and the green economy into the university’s educational programs;
- • conducting research and analytical projects on the rational use of natural resources, climate change adaptation, and biodiversity conservation;
- • supporting student mobility, green entrepreneurship, and environmental start-up initiatives;
- • implementing partnership projects with local and international organizations aimed at developing sustainable mountain communities and environmentally responsible tourism;
- • organizing public events, training sessions, and awareness campaigns on ecological education.
The GDC at BSU named after K. Karasaev serves as a platform for sharing experience, knowledge, and innovation in the field of the green transition, contributing to strengthened regional cooperation and the integration of Central Asia into the global sustainable development agenda.
