On February 26, 2026, the Faculty of European Civilizations at Bishkek State University named after K. Karasaev hosted the Inter-University Phonetic Contest. First-year students from five of Kyrgyzstan’s leading institutions gathered to compete in rounds including Team Introductions, Tongue Twisters, a Spelling Bee, and Jeopardy.
The participants were evaluated by an international jury consisting of Vadim Starkov (AELLCA, British Council), English Language Fellow Jacob Adams, former Peace Corps volunteer Andrew Wheeler, Associate Professor Toktomatova A.S. (Kyrgyz-Turkish "Manas" University), and Rakhat Rai kyzy (BSU International Department).
Bishkek State University named after K. Karasaev was awarded the 1st place Diploma. Ala-Too International University took 2nd place, and Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn earned 3rd place. Certificates of participation were presented to the International University of Kyrgyzstan and Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev. The event successfully fostered new friendships and highlighted the students' dedication to linguistic excellence.
