6. Program «0.5+4» (KNU–BSU) South Korea-Kyrgyzstan

  • Year of establishment of the agreement: 2025 (signed on May 21, 2025 in Bishkek).
  • Participants:
  • Kangwon National University (Republic of Korea)
  • Bishkek State University named after. K. Karasaeva (BSU, Kyrgyz Republic)
  • Training format:
  • 0.5 year (1 semester) preparatory course at BSU
  • 4 years (8 semesters) of bachelor's degree at KNU
  • Admission requirements:
  • Secondary education or higher (Kyrgyzstan)
  • Language requirements: minimum TOPIK 1 or IELTS 5.0 (from 2026 – TOPIK 3 or IELTS 5.5)
  • Average grade point average ≥70% (admission possible upon recommendation)
  • Program Features:
  • After completing the course at BSU, the student is enrolled at KNU as a freshman.
  • 9 credits earned in the preparatory course are recognized.
  • Discounts from 10% on training are available.
  • Result: Bachelor's degree from KNU (Republic of Korea).
  • Financial terms:
  • Tuition at BSU: 132,000 soms (2025–2026 academic year)
  • Cost in KNU: from 4,200,000 won per year (2026)
  • Scholarships at KNU depending on language level:
    • TOPIK 5 / IELTS 7.0 — 100% coverage
    • TOPIK 4 / IELTS 6.5 - about 60% coverage
  • Responsibilities of the parties:
  • BSU: promotion and recruitment of students, conducting a preparatory course.
  • KNU: student selection, academic and visa support, awarding of bachelor's degrees.
  • Duration of the agreement: 5 years with the possibility of extension.
