✅ GDCAU – Green Deals in Central Asian Universities
Program: Erasmus+ "Capacity Building in Higher Education"
Project code: 101179245
Implementation period: 2023–2026
Coordinator: University of Design Bremen (Germany)
Participants: 13 universities from Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
Project objective:
Promoting the EU Green Deal in the Eurasian region through the active involvement of universities as centres of sustainable development, green innovation and higher education transformation.
The main objectives of the project:
- Development of a national model Green and Digital University (GDU);
- Creation Green Digital Offices (GDO) in universities;
- Development and implementation of mandatory interdisciplinary training module on sustainable development for master's degree;
- Introduction microcredit elective courses;
- Horizontal analysis of curricula for green competencies;
- Creation National GDU network for sustainable knowledge exchange and promotion of green policies in universities of Kyrgyzstan.
The role of BSU:
Bishkek State University is actively involved in the development and implementation of the GDU model with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic. The project is expected to have a multiplier effect on more than 10,000 students and dozens of teachers, specialists and managers.
✅ 2. SOLID (Social Work and NGO Support in Drug Addiction Treatment)
Financing: DAAD (Germany)
Implementation period: 2025–2029
Coordinator: Nuremberg Federal University of Technology
Partners: Universities of Central Asia and China
Project objective:
Strengthening social work as a profession and science in Central Asia and China, especially in the context of helping people suffering from drug addiction, HIV, hepatitis, as well as in places of imprisonment.
The role of BSU:
The University is involved in training professionals, strengthening ties with NGOs and promoting harm reduction, prevention and psychosocial support programmes.
The project supports the UN SDGs (goals 3, 4, 5, 10, 16).
✅ 3. GREENKG (Green Transition and Climate Resilience in Kyrgyzstan's Higher Education)
Program: Erasmus+
Implementation period: 2024–2027
Project objective:
Development and implementation of courses on climate resilience, green economy and low-carbon development in universities of Kyrgyzstan.
Participation of BSU:
The university implements educational modules, trains teachers, and develops sustainable educational and environmental policies on campus.
✅ 4. SUMRICA (Sustainable Urban Mobility Research in Central Asia)
Implementation period: 2024–2028
Coordinator: Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin)
Participants: Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran
Project objective:
Developing research capacity in the field of sustainable urban mobility in Central Asia through:
- summer schools,
- research internships,
- joint publications,
- interdisciplinary seminars.
Participation of BSU:
The university's teachers and young researchers are trained in the fields of transport policy, sustainable planning and digital mobility solutions. The best undergraduate and postgraduate students receive scholarships for research internships at TU Berlin.research internships at TU Berlin.
