Department of Philosophy, Theory and History of Culture 

The Department of Philosophy, Theory and History of Culture was established in 1982 by order No. 63 of 23.06.1982 as the "Department of Philosophy and Political and Economic Disciplines". And in 1986 it was renamed the "Department of Philosophy" (No. 73 of 19.09.1986). In 1997 it was attached to the Faculty of Management and Sociology (hereinafter FMS) as the "Department of Philosophy, History and Cultural Studies". In its further development, the department underwent a number of changes and renamings (in 2000 - "Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies" (No. 202 of 11.09.2000), in 2001 - "Department of Sociology and Philosophy" (No. 124 of 10.07.2003).

Then the department was attached to the Kyrgyz-Chinese faculty from the FSPS on the basis of order No. 84 of 15.05.2006, and renamed to the “Department of Philosophy” (No. 109, of 06.09.2007), in order to improve the quality of training specialists in the field of training “Philosophy”.

In the context of improving the quality of education and improving the organization of the educational process, expanding its functions, on March 30, 2022, the Department of Philosophy was renamed the Department of Philosophy, Theory and History of Culture (No. 05-4 of 04/05/2022).

Mission of the Department: to become a publicly recognized scientific and expert center that creates competitive fundamental and applied developments in the field of studying philosophy and cultural studies in Kyrgyzstan.

The goal The department is a centralized organization of the educational process and scientific research in the field of philosophy and cultural studies, training of highly qualified personnel in the direction of 530100 "Philosophy" profile: philosophy of religions and 532300 "Sinology", profile: "Sinologist-culturalist", as well as ensuring scientific research, educational, cultural and social contribution to the development of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Objectives of the department: development of teaching materials for the courses being created, teaching courses, special courses, lectures and seminars on the disciplines of philosophy and cultural studies, as well as conducting scientific research in the field of philosophy and cultural studies.
