Department of Theory and History of Russian Literature

The Department of Theory and History of Russian Literature was established in 1979 as part of the Frunze Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature. The training of specialists is carried out systematically, and not in isolation of history from theory, and is focused on such areas as "Philology" and "Philological Education".

Over the years, such outstanding literary scholars as Khlypenko G.N., Ozmitel E.K., Bulesheva Zh.U., Serbul M.N., Dyachenko T., Begeeva D.A. worked at the department; currently, Murzakhmedova G.M., Rybina E.V., Abdyramanova A.Sh. continue to work.

Today, the department is the leading one at the faculty of Russian philology. The teachers' classes are conducted at a high scientific and methodological level, where students get acquainted with the latest achievements in literary studies and methods of teaching literature. The teachers of the department constantly participate in various seminars, speak at intra-university, inter-university and international conferences. Every year, the department defends master's and qualification theses devoted to current issues of literary studies and methods. The works are performed at a high level and deserve high marks from the state certification commission.

Practice

Internships at the Faculty of Russian Philology are conducted in accordance with the curriculum. The faculty provides the following types of internships in the 3rd and 4th years in the following areas: “Philological Education”, “Philology”: adaptation, professional-basic, educational-industrial, professional-profile, scientific-research, scientific-pedagogical. 

The main bases for practical training are: secondary schools of Bishkek: No. 47, No. 25, No. 55, "Bilimkana-Bishkek", ChSh "Genium", ChSh "Bilimkana American School", the center "Russian World", the Department of Theory and History of Russian Literature, the Department of General and Russian Linguistics. Every year, contracts are renewed with all bases, and the practice bases are expanded.

Research and scientific-methodical work

Research and scientific-methodical work at the Department of Theory and History of Russian Literature includes conducting scientific research, preparing scientific publications, holding scientific events and research work of students and postgraduates (NIRS, NIRM).

The department carries out research activities in accordance with the plans of the department, faculty and university. The scientific problem and theme of the research work of the department is “Poetics of Literature and Folklore”.

The scientific activities of the department as a whole are aimed at solving current problems:

• creating conditions and expanding prospects for scientific and professional growth of the teaching staff;
• integration of educational, scientific and innovative processes, use of the results of scientific activity in the educational process, in the training of highly qualified personnel, active involvement of students in the scientific work of the department team;
• establishing creative contacts with leading scientists, universities and scientific institutions of Kyrgyzstan and other countries.

The department is actively working on organizing students' scientific research. Research is carried out within the framework of organizing the educational process with control over students' independent work. 

Every year the department holds scientific and practical conferences for master's students "Philological education, linguistics, journalism, pedagogy: modern problems of scientific research", based on the results of which collections of scientific papers are published.

A number of department staff members are working on preparing their PhD dissertations.
