Department of General and Russian Linguistics

The Department of General and Russian Linguistics is one of the oldest and leading departments of the Bishkek State University named after K. Karasaev.

It was founded in the distant 70s of the last century. The department was founded by a group of outstanding figures, such as A.I. Vasiliev, F.A. Krasnov, V.K. Yantsen, S.A. Kunduzakova, T.M. Shin, T.A. Zayakina, L.S. Goloborodko. Prominent philologists work at the department – Sydykov A.N., Kuttubaeva G.A., Yelebesova S.A., Kambaralieva U.Dzh. and others.

The department is a graduation department. Over 40 years, more than one generation of philology students have studied at the department. Graduates of the department, teachers of Russian language and literature, philologists, linguists, translators, successfully work in different parts of our republic and abroad.

The department still maintains high scientific potential. The department has trained 6 doctors and 25 candidates of science, published more than 20 monographs, 50 teaching aids, and published more than 500 scientific articles.

Personnel composition

          There are 22 people working at the Department of General and Russian Linguistics. Of these, 3 are professors - 1 with a doctorate degree, 2 with a candidate of science degree; 1 associate professor with a candidate of science degree; 6 acting associate professors - 3 with a candidate of science degree; 4 - without a candidate of science degree; 6 senior lecturers. Thus, the percentage of those with a degree is 47%.

Directions and specialties

  The department trains bachelors and masters in the following areas: "Philological education", "Philology (Russian)", "Linguistics (methods of teaching language disciplines)", "Linguistics (Russian language for foreigners)", "Linguistics (translation and translation studies)".

Direction: Linguistics

(with advanced study of English)

Graduates of the Linguistics program work as translators, assistants, editors in language centers and international organizations, translate official and business documentation, teach languages in preschool institutions, schools, lyceums, colleges and universities, teach Russian to foreign citizens in language courses.

Specialty: Translation and translation studies

(Russian, English, Kyrgyz).

Training of linguists-translators, fluent in 3 languages, with intercultural communication skills. Fields of activity: state and public organizations, translation agencies, commercial structures, travel agencies, universities, gymnasiums, colleges, hotels, PR agencies, postgraduate studies.

R&D

The members of the department conduct research work on the topic: "Functioning of the Russian language in new geopolitical conditions." Each teacher studies their section of the modern Russian language, its methods, comparative linguistics, has an individual plan of research work and reports on it annually. Educational and methodological manuals on stylistics, phonetics, morphology, morphemics, comparative linguistics have been published. Articles have been published in the above-mentioned areas.

Research

Participation of students in research activities is a mandatory element of training future specialists. Research work of students is an effective means of improving the quality of training specialists and is carried out in close connection with the educational process. To implement this principle, various forms of research work of students are used at the Department of General and Russian Linguistics. Students studying in the second year write coursework of the first level, and then, studying in the following years, write coursework of the second and third levels. Thus, students will be able to have the skills of scientific presentation already from the first year of study at a higher educational institution.

The main organizational forms of research work at the Department of General and Russian Linguistics are:

Educational practice

Educational practice: The educational practice is conducted in accordance with the curriculum for the field of study 531100 "Linguistics" for full-time students. The practice is conducted in educational institutions, as well as in any other organizations, in the field of activity in which graduates of the "Linguistics" field can work, that is, wherever linguistic and pedagogical knowledge, as well as translation services are needed. During the educational practice, the student is obliged to promptly complete the tasks provided for by the practice program, as well as the instructions of the practice supervisor, obey the internal regulations in force in the institution; upon completion of the practice, draw up a report on its completion, attaching to it the documents specified in the practice program, as well as references from the places of practice.

The purpose of the educational practice is: familiarization of students with the activities of a linguist-teacher and the work of teachers working in a comprehensive school and in other educational organizations; improvement of the professional training of students; development of professionally significant qualities of the personality of a future foreign language teacher.

To develop a lasting interest in the teaching profession, conviction in the correctness of its choice, the opportunity to make a personal contribution to the modernization of the school; to form in students a holistic scientific picture of pedagogical activity and new pedagogical thinking; to develop in students professional skills and abilities necessary for the successful implementation of the educational process as a pedagogical system; to develop in future teachers pedagogical abilities, their individuality, to develop in students the need for self-education and self-improvement of professional and pedagogical knowledge and skills; to develop experience of creative pedagogical activity, a research approach to the pedagogical process; to develop professionally significant qualities of the personality of the future teacher and his active pedagogical position; to assist educational institutions in solving the problems of educating students.

The objective of the educational practice is: testing and consolidation of the theoretical knowledge acquired by the student in production conditions, as well as acquisition of practical skills. formation of professional skills, performance of specific production functions and participation of students in the production activities of the enterprise (organization). Planning and conducting lessons of various nature. planning a lesson as a whole and as a link in a chain of lessons based on a thematic plan.

Mastering the methodology of teaching aspects of language (vocabulary, grammar, phonetics) and types of speech activity (listening, speaking, reading, writing) in secondary school. Learn to determine the necessary sequence of exercises leading to the creation of the corresponding skill or speech ability, paying special attention to communicative exercises as a means of teaching unprepared speech. Learn to create an environment of communication in a foreign language in the classroom, paying special attention to the development of monologue and dialogic forms of speech.

Learn to conduct lessons using various technical teaching aids. Learn to use various types of visual aids. Learn to combine class work in a foreign language with extracurricular work. Learn to keep a record of the lessons attended and analyze them, draw up lesson plans and notes, scenarios for extracurricular activities in a foreign language, and maintain an individual plan. Learn to conduct career guidance work among students using a foreign language and in extracurricular educational work.

Professional and specialized practice

In the system of professional training of future teachers of literature, state pedagogical practice plays an important role. It connects the theoretical training of future teachers with their independent work in educational institutions of various types.

Goals and objectives of the practice

  1. To form and develop pedagogical skills and abilities, as well as professionally significant personal qualities in future teachers.
  2. To develop in students a sustainable interest and love for the teaching profession, the need for pedagogical self-education, and to choose a creative and research approach to pedagogical activity.
  3. To check the level of theoretical training, both in the field of modern Russian language and in the methodology of teaching Russian language, to determine possible ways of improving the professional skills of a future teacher of literature.
  4. To study the experience of methodologists-teachers who supervise the activities of trainees, to become familiar with modern technologies of teaching the Russian language.
  5. Mastering modern methods and techniques of teaching Russian to schoolchildren, implementing educational functions in practice, activating the teaching of Russian based on the principle of communicativeness, taking into account the specific conditions of the school, the age characteristics of students, and their level of proficiency in Russian.
  6. During state practice, students take an active part in methodological and research work, systematically analyze their practical activities and experience of educational and upbringing work of teachers. In addition, students participate in pedagogical councils, seminars and methodological meetings of teachers and class teachers, in problem seminars held by practice leaders. They collect material on the topic of the diploma work, prepare reporting documentation and methodological materials for offices, provide methodological assistance to junior students who are on practice at school, participate in holding a conference on the results of the practice.

Pre-qualification practice

Pre-qualification practice as a special type of industrial practice is the final stage of training and is conducted after students have mastered the theoretical and practical training program: - for students who have graduated from a bachelor's degree, it is conducted in the 4th year.

Pre-qualification practice of students is conducted in the final year, after completion of theoretical training. The purpose of the practice: - consolidation of theoretical knowledge obtained at the university, through practical classes; - study of advanced methods of labor organization, enterprise management, economics; consolidation of professional competencies; - collection of materials for the completion of the qualification work. Pre-qualification practice is the final stage of training and is conducted after students have mastered the theoretical and practical training programs at the university. before the start of the qualification work.

The basis of the internship is determined, as a rule, by the topic of the qualification work. The tasks of the internship are determined by the profile of the direction (specialty), and the content is determined by the topic of the qualification work. The factual material collected by the student on the production activities of the enterprise (organization, institution) is used in completing the qualification work. Upon completion of the internship, students take an exam to the internship supervisor from the University, with the submission of a report on the internship and the conclusion of the organization where the pre-qualification internship took place.
