Department of German Language

The Department of German was established on September 1, 1992, simultaneously with the creation of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology. Currently, the department is part of the Faculty of European Civilizations.

The main objective of the department is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of education, philology and translation activities, who have knowledge of foreign languages such as German, Italian, French and English. In addition to the main foreign language - German - the department also teaches a second foreign language: German, English, French or Italian.

Important areas of the department's work are high-quality teaching of the German language, scientific-methodological and research activities, as well as educational work.

Mission of the program “Philological education” — to prepare teachers who are capable of effective communication and global literacy through the development of an understanding of language, literature and culture, critical thinking and pedagogical experience.

Mission of the specialty “Translation and Translation Studies” — training specialists with fundamental knowledge in the field of linguistics, theory and practice of translation, meeting the requirements of modern educational standards. Training in the specialty "Translation and Translation Studies" allows you to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of oral and written, technical and literary translation, becoming universal translators who master a variety of techniques and types of translation.

The mission of the Linguistics program — training highly qualified specialists in the field of intercultural communication, pedagogy and translation, meeting the needs of the country and competitive in the modern labor market.

The department actively cooperates with German organizations such as DAAD, the Union of Teachers of German in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Goethe Institute in Almaty, the Language Center at the Goethe Institute in Bishkek, German Technical Cooperation (GIZ), as well as with universities of Kyrgyzstan such as KSU named after I. Arabaev, OshSU, KTU "Manas", KSTU named after I. Razzakov. In addition, the department maintains partnerships with the French Embassy, the "French Alliance" in Bishkek and the Consulate of Italy.

Students of the department undergo practical training in educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan, in tourism and translation companies such as RK Global Group, GMC Translation Service, Euroasia, as well as in government organizations. In addition, students are given the opportunity to undergo language internships in Germany and Austria as part of student exchange programs. Graduates of the department are successfully employed in various organizations, firms and government agencies.

To improve their language skills, students of the German department are given the opportunity every year to work and undergo language training in Germany within the framework of the DAAD, Ferien und Job, FSJ and Au-Pair programs.

Research

Research is one of the most important means of improving the quality of training and education of specialists with higher professional education. The students' research work includes: 

  • completion of term papers and theses, study of the theoretical foundations of methodology, formulation, organization and conduct of scientific research;
  • participation in the work of scientific, linguistic, and regional studies circles of the department.

Students of the German department actively conduct scientific work, working on writing term papers and qualification papers, and students also actively participate and present reports at scientific student conferences.

The department has a language club. "Germany's Pass"The head of the club is the teacher of the German language department, Elmira Dyushobaeva. The participants of the club are students of 1-4 courses.

Target mug :

  • deepening, improving knowledge and developing students’ speech activity;
  • identifying students' creative abilities;
  • development of students' professional interests.

Volunteers from Germany and France are involved in the work of the circle.

R&D

The Department of German Language is working on a research topic "Typological study of the linguistic structure of Germanic and Romance languages". Research work is carried out according to the approved plan; topics for qualification papers and term papers are developed annually for the new academic year.

The main ones tasks The research work of the department is:

  • conducting relevant scientific research;
  • improving the educational process through the use of the latest scientific research;
  • improving the scientific qualifications of the department's teaching staff;
  • writing and preparing for publication textbooks, teaching aids, monographs, scientific articles and reports;
  • reviewing textbooks, teaching aids, monographs, scientific articles and reports;
  • editing textbooks, teaching aids, monographs, scientific articles and reports;
  • management of student and scientific circles.
