Department of Theory and Practice of Translation
The Department of Translation Theory and Practice began its activities in 1999 as the Department of “Germanic Philology”, and since 2004 as the Department of “Theory and Practice of Translation” and is a graduating department at the Faculty of European Civilizations. During its existence, the department has achieved great success in training highly qualified specialists, both for the public education system and for departmental and interdepartmental structures working in the field of development of international relations.
In accordance with the regulations of the department, its main task — training of highly qualified personnel, as well as implementation of scientific research activities.
The Department of Translation Theory and Practice trains students in the following areas and specialties:

Theory and methods of teaching foreign languages and cultures (English language);
Translation and translation studies (English language).
Mission of the specialty “Translation and Translation Studies” — training specialists with fundamental knowledge in the field of linguistics, theory and practice of translation, meeting the requirements of modern educational standards. Training in the specialty "Translation and Translation Studies" allows you to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of oral and written, technical and literary translation, becoming universal translators who master a variety of techniques and types of translation.
The mission of the Linguistics program — training highly qualified specialists in the field of intercultural communication, pedagogy and translation, meeting the needs of the country and competitive in the modern labor market.
R&D
Research work at the Department of Translation Theory and Practice is carried out on the topic "Comparative study of English, Kyrgyz and Russian languages at various language levels (grammatical, lexical and morphological)."
The organization of scientific research work at the department includes: development of scientific research activities of teachers, work with postgraduate students, conducting scientific research, preparing and publishing textbooks, teaching aids, monographs, articles and scientific reports, holding conferences at the faculty, participation of teachers in conferences held at other universities.
Research work of students
Students’ research work is one of the most important means of professional and educational training of qualified specialists at the Department of Translation Theory and Practice.
Involvement of students in research work allows to realize professional orientation of future specialists. The purpose of organizing and conducting research work at the department is to improve the quality of training specialists by actively involving students in research work using the achievements of science and technology in accordance with promising research directions and development of research potential in the younger generation.
The main objectives of research work are: 1) attracting students to scientific and practical activities; 2) stimulating and supporting scientific activities of young people; 3) strengthening diverse ties between students; 4) creating conditions for realizing the innovative potential of young people; 5) developing creative and analytical thinking in students; 6) identifying the most gifted and prepared students who have a pronounced motivation for scientific research; 7) developing the need for students to independently expand their knowledge in their chosen specialty; 8) developing and expanding their scientific horizons; 9) enriching the educational process with the results of scientific activity.
Students' research and educational work
The purpose of the students' educational research work (UIRS) is to familiarize students with all stages of scientific research work. It is an integral part of the training of highly qualified specialists who have the skills of independent research work.
The department has organized and is running a club called "World of Translation". The circle works according to the plan. The circle is organized for all interested students interested in translation problems. The main linguistic task of this circle is to generalize and systematize the conclusions from observing specific facts of translation and to establish the patterns that exist in the relationship between different languages. The solution to this problem involves studying the phenomena that occur when translating specific material from one language to another. Translation theory analyzes, explains and generalizes the facts of translation experience, establishes correspondences and discrepancies between languages.
Students' internships are organized in accordance with the curriculum. The main content of the internships is an internship in a relevant position in the profile of the work or in master classes of leading specialists in the chosen field.
According to the curriculum, the following types of practical training are carried out at the Department of Translation Theory and Practice:

Students undergo internships in translation agencies: “BiProfi”, “GMC”, “Confident”, “Eurasia Trading”, “Good Time”, as well as in state and non-state educational institutions: Bilimkana, G. Gmeiner UWC, Oxford International School, Cambridge School, “Kreativ-Taalim”
